In person training August 16-19, 2024

Join James Knight, Founder of Gentle Somatic Yoga® (GSY) for a somatic movement education that you will not find anywhere else.

The in-person part of training will be held at a beautiful boutique resort in Tucson, Arizona. The livestream sessions will be hosted by Zoom and you can join anywhere there is good WIFI access (sessions will be recorded in case you need to miss any). Your tuition cost covers all the livestream sessions prior to our in-person intensive and it is important to note that all meals, gratuities for staff, taxes, etc. are included in your total event cost.

Through this innovative course you will be invited to dive deeper into understanding how to apply the neuroscience of your past GSY training by evaluating your student & clients’ needs and choosing the best protocol for them so they can feel more comfortable in their body. The techniques that you will learn can enhance your skill level for customized one-on-one sessions, as well as be implemented into group movement classes.

Learn and embody

  • 12+ Assisted Pandiculation protocol sequences with a specific anatomical focus.

James will pass on to you his tried-and-true customized hands-on techniques from over 30-years being in private practice to reverse common physical complaints and conditions. He has helped hundreds of people come out of chronic pain, stiffness, posture imbalances, and other health challenges. This method is particularly sought out by yoga therapists, yoga teachers, bodyworkers, and other health care professionals that offer on-on-one sessions.
 
  • 30+ Somatic Movement Flows® modified for using a chair as a prop

Be inspired to embrace everyday movement as a lifestyle. Since most of us, from modern culture, spend a lot of the in a chair, it is important to mindfully move the body (soma) and create opportunities to strengthen the brain-to-muscle connection.

These therapeutic sequences are supportive for all of us: seniors or anyone with limited mobility, the desk worker, corporate wellness, and activities that involve prolonged sitting like flying on air planes for long distances, driving, attending concerts, plays, or the theater, etc...

For the past couple of years, we at GSY, have been exploring different platforms to offer our training programs. A new one offers part livestream and part in-person experience. This not only cuts down on cost, but it also offers the best of both worlds: learning out of the comfort of your own home, and also the in-person experience where the direct transmission can come through hands-on exchange. The livestream dates and times are: 

  • Live on Zoom: On the following dates from 1:00 - 3:00 pm (PDT), 2024

  • Live in-person:  At the beautiful boutique resort in Tucson, Arizona: Tanque Verde Ranch  August 16-19, 2024

*The prerequisite for this course is the completion of GSY Levels 1 & 2 

A perk to the in-person training:

You are invited to bring a friend or family members as guests to join you as complimentary guests if they are not taking the training and the accommodation you are booking has the number of beds you want. There is plenty of time for your guests to be fully entertained at the retreat center we chose in Tucson if they don’t mind waiting until your breaks to spend time with you (trust us… they won’t be bored!).

HOW CAN I APPLY THIS EDUCATION TO MY EXISTING PROFESSION?

Once you have completed GSY Levels 1,2 and 3, a total of 100 hours of Gentle Somatic Yoga, you are now a highly qualified* Somatic Movement Educator who is fully certified to work in many settings (in-person and virtual events).  Your scope of practice can safely and successfully include hands-on adjustments, customized one-on-one sessions and Gentle Somatic Yoga workshops, classes and retreats for all levels of patients, clients, and students. 

*By taking this training course, it may prepare you to organize and facilitate GSY Level 1 & Level 2 training courses (live or virtually, and with certification option). In addition, there may be a possibility of collaborating with James Knight by bringing your own expertise/skill sets and developing new unique GSY programs. 

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS

Earn 36 hours of Yoga Alliance approved CEU’s for this GSY Level 3 online course. Yoga Therapists may also apply for IAYT CEU’s.

About your facilitator:

James Knight, founder of Gentle Somatic Yoga®, is one of the early pioneers to bridge Somatics and yoga. He is an Experienced Yoga Teacher, Certified Hanna Somatic Educator from the Novato Institute for Somatic Research and Training (3rd wave), and Integrative Therapist. His passion is to inspire and encourage others to live a fulfilling life of physical, emotional and spiritual freedom.
 
From his combined experience as a lifelong yogi, intuitive bodyworker, body-oriented psychotherapist, movement educator and author, James created an easy and reliable method that reverses the cause and effects of muscular pain, stiffness, and other tension-based conditions. Most people find immediate and long-lasting beneficial results.

  • Transportation to and from the Tucson International Airport (but this can be arranged through the Resort at $50 RT)

In the morning or evenings after training, enjoy nature from your shared patio. Casitas in this part of the venue feature one king. **This room features one king bedroom with a door and 2 queen sofa beds.

Our cancellation policy is as follows:  Deposits are due upon registering.  In-person event deposits are non-refundable. If the event you are registered for is more than 90 days out, partial refunds for the remaining payment may be considered, on a case-by-case basis, based on our retreat/training venues policies.  There are no refunds if you want to cancel if your event is scheduled in less than 90 days.
